Roblox is a game universe that consists of hundreds of titles, and a lot of them are user-generated. It's built and maintained for everyone, even though the majority of players are age 8-12.
What the Fuss Is About
Unlike other games, Roblox runs on community created servers – the games in the game are hosted on servers created by other players, and not made by the developers (even though there are exceptions). This means that everything is created by real users, and people who join servers are random.
A big part of the game is free, but you can get exclusive items with "Robux". Robux is bought with real money. When someone creates a game, and you buy an item from that game, the creator gets Robux.
Graphics, Visual and Audio
Roblox is focused on building and creativity while encouraging communication among players. In the game, there are lots of worlds. Overall, most games created by players look simple, with blocky visuals and washed-out colors.
The audio here is hit-or-miss because it's up to players to add sound effects to their games. The same thing with visuals: while some creations are brilliant, for the most part, all of them look the same. That's not to say they're ugly, but for the most part, you won't find any big-studio productions there. Players get Robux by charging other users to play their games.
Roblox offers infinite replayability. You will never get bored of the game, and there is never an end. While you can be anything you want in the game (and build almost everything), most creations are watered-down versions of similar titles. Still, parents say their children are completely locked in, and keep going about how cool the game is.
Roblox was developed in 2006 as a social platform for everyone to make games. The unique appeal of Roblox is that it gives access to hundreds of user-generated games for others to discover. To date, there are over 100 million active players, making it one of the most popular games in the world. 28 billion hours have been played since 2008. Suffice to say, the game is extremely popular.
